Occasionally while I stir about the web something stops me in my tracks. As I was sampling the darker delights of the web, you know the dark crevices that sulk beneath the casing of your most sinister dreams. I tripped over my own visceral and as I stood, the following struck me.

The art here is absolutely amazing. I am partial to dark art, of course but every so often I find something that just makes me hungry.

There is much to like about the art here – I see an entire world, comic book series, short horror movies, book covers etc.

Indie Art Stop: Liran Szeiman

Art that is macabre, out of the ordinary and down right frightening is what attracts my attentions and certainly the art of Liran Szeiman caught my attention for that very reason. The art is simply amazing.

I love the colors and the sinister look of the characters created. It is simply wonderful art that is colorful, defined and visually gorgeous. The talent of Szeiman is unchallenged.

There isn’t much to complain about and the visions lend themselves to many a story idea. I enjoyed every single piece of art I looked at. Each had something to say and each was as unique as the last.

For me, I wonder how such a talent can seemingly be so silent. Perhaps it is my small world that I am not exposed to true art as on display here. I don’t know about you, but I simply love it.

Hat’s off to the talent and vision of Szeiman, I am in awe.

Indie Art Stop: Simon Sherry

Some pretty damn sweet illustrations for the CB discerning fan. I like the macabre of course but there is much to see here at Simon’s site. The art is well defined and presented. Professional and seasoned come to mind when clicking through the large library of art. 

One can imagine many a storyline to associated to the art herein - the three here are a few of my personal favorites, though there are many more, to many to politely share on my scant blog pages.

Many wonder about the minds of writer's who pen such nasty and detailed sins, Writer's who can dream up such disdain and agony imposed on the human condition. What about the artist whose visions spill out of their minds onto whatever media they chose to express themselves?

Certainly, one must question the sanity of those artist.

Indie Art Stop: Jacques Marcotte

Love it! Exceptional art with a mood that is intoxicating and lines that are blurred to perfection. I had very little luck uncovering allot of information on this Canadian artist, which is quite disappointing. I have and will again in the future open my virtual wallet and drop a few more dollars here and there for this artists’ product.

Enjoy but try not to get swept away from it all. Much to see, enjoy and get lost in under the talented illustrations of this indie artist. I expect to see much more form him in the future and will certainly keep an eye out.

The writer’s muse and the art affect

 

I find that there are many things that stimulate my muse, for me it is primarily music. Music is something that has been covered widely within the dark crevices of this blog. There is another form of art that from time to time sparks my muse. That of the visual arts, primarily illustration, ink and painting - provide great motivation.

From time to time my muse will dabble here about such art, whether a single illustration or a body of work.  One such site is that of Ms. Alexandria Noël and her site “Alexandria Noël Painter • Illustrator • Designer.” I stumbled upon her art via Chamber of Echoes as I was doing some research for my musically inspired muse. Seems Ms. Noël was responsible for the site. The site, might I add, is expertly designed, laid out and masterfully presented.

From there I was able to investigate a bit further and discovered her site – and I was thrilled. The illustration and paintings displayed are exceptional and her Plague Doctor awakened my muse in a unique and specific manner. Sometimes unexpected things get our creativity to blossom – and we can thank the work of other artist for such direction, as I am certain our words inspire at the end of their pen or fingers against a musical instrument.

I highly recommend a visit to Ms. Noël’s site for a spot of inspiration or an eyeful of art that is certain to please and perhaps take you places you never conjured before.
