About Sinister Tidings

Here you will find a collage of likes and dislikes from RTS’ Spyder Collins. The primary focus is to bring fun and indie flashes of art and not so mainstream artists. There is nothing fancy, revealing, political or otherwise world shaping. Just things, introductions, reminiscing and fun in the world of literature, art and music, to which I hope you enjoy and find some pleasure in.

Horror: An Anthology - Micah Kevil

This one was a bit of a stretch. This chap has something in common with me, and that is no one seems to be purchasing his anthology. Could it be the title, I mean really? The cover art is non-spectacular as well. It seems on the surface that not much effort and forethought or creativity went into the creation of this anthology (hmmmm - mental note).

The anthology is a single author offering of eight horror stories. Genre is correct enough by my estimation and the over all theme is probably PG-13. My favorites were perhaps Ferryman 13 and Bite of Satan, though neither left me thirsty for more. The tales are not poorly written, just predictable and spent topics and delivery.

Not taking anything away from the author. He can write, grammar seemed spot on (but I am no expert) and the storyline held true to itself. It just isn’t anything to get excited about. I did a little poking around and sense this is much of all there is from this author. Perhaps he is new or this was a one-time shot?

In any case, for the reader – pass especially based on the cost. For the writer, there is nothing here for you.
