About Sinister Tidings

Here you will find a collage of likes and dislikes from RTS’ Spyder Collins. The primary focus is to bring fun and indie flashes of art and not so mainstream artists. There is nothing fancy, revealing, political or otherwise world shaping. Just things, introductions, reminiscing and fun in the world of literature, art and music, to which I hope you enjoy and find some pleasure in.

Spyder’s comic minute: City of Dust – Steve Niles

I remember the first introduction I had to Mr. Niles. It was his comic - Fused that caught my eye. I was interested not so much in the comic at the time, rather the genre and business. I sent him a note, just cause. Never expecting much, of course. To my pleasure, Mr. Niles responded to me and we chatted a bit about the business. I have always wanted to write comics but have never dented the genre. I gather it is lack of talent; networking or my work just doesn’t float to the top.

So, I moved on, still loving and reading the genre. Then the other day I stumbled onto City of Dust, by one Steve Niles. I thought fondly of his time and energy and figured I’d grab #1 – I did enjoy the Fused series (FYI). So, there I was with comic in hand and found that I quite enjoyed it, as well. I now am fully involved in the series.

As important as the writing is the art and here you will find a well-crafted CB with outstanding art to compliment a fine storyline. City of Dust is a future look at civilization a sort of post apocalyptic world that mirrors Minority Report or Accessory, a bit.

The main character, Phillip Khrome, is a homicide detective who is deep into the investigation of a killing spree within the city. What he begins to learn about the gruesome crimes is the discovery of societies influence if not birth of such crimes. The truth as it unfolds is much to digest and even harder to combat.

Excellent … gripping … meaningful and gritty, and I fully recommend you check it out – here.
