Chamber of Horrors is a collection of horror from writer
Billy Wells. I dig collections and anthologies, truth be told. Don’t get me
wrong, longer works is where it is at to be a successful writer but short works
makes a writer.
So, this collection holds seventeen tales of the macabre,
spook and creep fest as well as your standard expectations of horror. Each of
these fun tales could make great episodes on the Twilight Zone, if only Rod Serling
was still about. Each one stands on its own merit and comes recommend for a
spot of a dead text (meaning nothing to wet the bed over) read.
Of note, Witch Albert about a hungry toy. World Domination
details the plot to destroy the world via video game, perhaps not. The Caller
from Hell … OK this was a Twilight Zone episode, see Night Call. Hmmm … sure
urban legend but coincidental nonetheless. Road Kill was a fun read too ... I suppose the themes her are a bit wore
but the reads are fun. If you are looking to be scared or amazed then move
along -
The Cadaver … haha, nice tale but again it’s nothing unique
about the plot just some decent writing with a few twists. Overall, sure it's worth a look - great material for research i.e. writers to give you some fodder for the technique page of your DIY manual.
