About Sinister Tidings

Here you will find a collage of likes and dislikes from RTS’ Spyder Collins. The primary focus is to bring fun and indie flashes of art and not so mainstream artists. There is nothing fancy, revealing, political or otherwise world shaping. Just things, introductions, reminiscing and fun in the world of literature, art and music, to which I hope you enjoy and find some pleasure in.

Ghost Swim - Sara Brooke

Eerie, atmospheric and well-written easily describe Ghost Swim. Brooke paints a definite ghost story here and draws on the reader’s emotion and senses. Interesting story but unlike many of the other reader reviews, the ending wasn’t “really” a twist, but it was well derived.

Rachel is a swimmer, at seventeen swimming seems to be her only opportunity for a scholarship. So, Rachel swims every opportunity she gets to hone her skills in hopes of making the National Team. One evening, with the weather unsavory and practice cancelled, Rachel finds herself heading off to the pool to [practice her swimming, by her mom's encouraging.

It is here the real story and terror begins. Rachel finds herself alone and very uncomfortable. Something just isn’t right and what unfolds is a well-described, visual tale of dismay that is sure to haunt the young adult reader. Well crafted, indeed and is well worth a read. Sara Brooke will be sure to leave an impression - read her well ...
