About Sinister Tidings

Here you will find a collage of likes and dislikes from RTS’ Spyder Collins. The primary focus is to bring fun and indie flashes of art and not so mainstream artists. There is nothing fancy, revealing, political or otherwise world shaping. Just things, introductions, reminiscing and fun in the world of literature, art and music, to which I hope you enjoy and find some pleasure in.

J. Michael Straczynski’s Ten Grand

Big fan of Straczynski’s work, Ten Grand is no different. Joe Fitzgerald is an ex-con who leaves the business for love, all right that’s not so unique. His love, Laura and him are murdered, as you know, no one leaves the business that easily.

What makes this a good read is the interesting deal Joe makes to serve good through the use of his given angelic powers as he is sent back to earth to pursue noble and good causes. Each time he dies for such a cause he is rewarded with five minutes in heaven to spend with his beloved Laura. After such time he is returned to earth to serve again.

That’s the premise of the story and a good one it is. It is the ultimate sacrifice to spend five minutes with the one you love. J. Michael Straczynski delivers another winner here with an exceptional story and unique art to move along with this dark love story. It’s not all gushy and rosy – Ten Grand is a dark and disturbing ride through the place we all call home.

Suggest you look into this series, for the comic lover and for those looking for a great story – Ten Grand delivers.
